 PWC TO LAUNCH LAW FIRM

Big Four Firm PwC is launching an independent law firm in the U.S., according to published reports.  The unit, which will be called ILC Legal, will be a separate entity from the firm, and will not offer advice on U.S. law, according to Law.com, but will work with U.S. clients on international legal issues, such as international corporate structuring, M&A, immigration, and tax controversy. IASB CHAIRMAN'S SPEECH: THE TIMES, THEY ARE A-CHANGIN'

In a speech delivered at Accountancy Europe's event in Brussels, Chairman of the International Accounting Standards Board (the Board) Hans Hoogervorst sets out his views on how financial reporting will continue to provide a vital anchor for investors in their evaluation of a company.  At the same time, Hoogervorst notes that financial reporting and the work of the Board will need to evolve, to ensure that IFRS Standards continue to meet the needs of market participants.  Click here to find out more .

 

DELOITTE SUFFERS CYBER ATTACK

The Big Four firm claims that "very few" of its clients have been impacted but has launched an internal review.  The attack, which was first reported by The Guardian, may have accessed usernames, passwords and personal details of the firm's clients.   Click here to find out more .
